All one has to do is go to

http://historum.com

and then scroll down until he gets to the line which reads Political Forum and then go there and leave us in peace. That's what it's there for.

I know; it lacks the cool-edgy background color. But one can get used to anything.

But even if one cannot get used to it, he still may not politi-flog here.

Perhaps, I would move James Polk from "Good Presidents" to "Destruction with Benefits", due to the Mexican War (1846-1848) and the territorial expansion.

I find Buchanan and Pierce quite interesting personally, in spite of their reputations as terrible presidents. A particular aspect in which I'm interested in is their expansionistic positions.

Donald Trump is by far the worst ever president in the history of the USA, and he's not even done yet dividing and destroying America.

From your perspective in Italy yes, but territorial expansion usually makes one well regarded as a leader. Even Stalin is well regarded in Russia.

Allow me to remind you all that discussion of contemporary politics (1990 onward) is banned on Historum.

I still maintain that Nixon was the best. He had some wonderful domestic achievements, and he was a master of foreign diplomacy. The more I read about him, the more impressed I am. And it's also the fact that he wasn't part of a political dynasty, he came from truly humble roots, he really embodies the idea of a meritocracy which America was founded on. He was undone by his demons, and will never get a fair hearing from historians as a result, and it must be said his war with Cambodia was immoral and he was personally an incredibly racist individual, but Nixon the political actor was an absolute master.

The worst? Harding. EASILY. The man was a sex-addict who either through active malevolence or contemptible ignorance allowed his friends and hangers-on to debase his office with their shady criminal deals. He treated the White House like his own personal brothel, and had his Secret Service detail ferry his mistresses about. As a man, Harding was progressive for his age and decried racial segregation, but he had no respect for the Presidency - and admitted that he was not right for the role.
I still personally believe he was poisoned, but whatever the truth of his death, America was better off with him in the ground than the Oval Office.

My list would be ideologically biased for the last few decades for example, I have Reagan towards the bottom because I think his economic policies destroyed the country/may be the reason why this country loses it's superpower status eventually(And his foreign policy success was a matter of luck as a Soviet Leader other than Gorbecheav might have reacted very different).

I think FDR is the best.

I also will agree that Nixon is underrated though I'd be hard pressed to call him the greatest even if we take Watergate out of it.

Think Lincoln is very underrated both because of his resume and being in the right place at the right time(I believe almost any US President would have defeated the CSA under the same circumstances and Lincoln might have made this harder if anything).
