A good list, indeed ... but ...

Theodore Roosevelt and his "Rough Riders" took part in the Spanish-American War (San Juan Hill battle, 1898).

Harry Truman ... the fanaticism of Cold War.

Polk ... well ... he is remembered for the Mexican War (1846-1848).

George H.W. Bush ... recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ulysses S. Grant ... the Civil War.

Zachary Taylor ... Mexican War as well.

And I could continue.

George H. W. Bush was not responsible for taking American troops into Afghanistan.

And while he did take troops into Iraq the first time around, that was in response to Iraq invading Kuwait.

However, having checked my dates, let's leave H.W. Bush's performance in Iraq out of this, since everything post 1990 is not considered suitable for historical discussion.

Even so, he's appropriately ranked as a good president, and in my estimation an excellent president. As per the rules his progeny is spared our judgment.

He was a veteran. Okay.
Harry Truman ... the fanaticism of Cold War.
Okay, so we do nothing while the Soviet Union tries to take over Europe.
Polk ... well ... he is remembered for the Mexican War (1846-1848).
Which also gave us a crap ton of land. Immorality never tasted so good.
George H.W. Bush ... recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Afghanistan?
Ulysses S. Grant ... the Civil War.
You're damn right.
Zachary Taylor ... Mexican War as well.
Okay, serving in the military is a crime?
I'm generally anti-war but I'm not a 100% pacifist.

I don't know about you guys, but a President that was in power when the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression begun, should clearly not be in the "good" list of great Presidents.

And by the way, the worst ones should be really those that preceded him and implemented economic policies that caused this great economic downturn: cough...cough...Reagan...cough...cough...Clinton.. .

Because the president is directly responsible for the business cycle and merely being present when an event happens means you are the one that caused it, right?
