I can't choose an overall favorite tribe. I do have a favorite style of North American Indian art though.

The Haida and other northwest Indian tribes produced the most striking, evocative and beautiful art in all of the Americas, in my opinion.

Wiki says the False Face Society was with the Iroquois.

I'll go for the Nez Perce. They were a people who had encountered the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and gave them a great deal of assistance. From then on there was no record of them actually killing (or even injuring a white man) until they were pushed too far.

When they were pushed too far, they decided to go to Canada, had the US government allowed them to do so, the US army wouldn't have been utterly humiliated by a much smaller number of Nez Perce warriors.

I love Mesoamerican art and architecture, so maybe the Totonac:

none more then others- they are all fascinating in their own way for what they accomplished with the resources and technology available to them and how they adapted to their surroundings

I find it a bit odd that I don't really admire the Native American tribes much. I'm far more into the Aztec/Maya/Inca types down south. I think its something to do with their hippy spirituality religion that turns me off. Give me a good old-fashioned head-chopping and heart-ripping religion any day!

You've obviously never heard of the Skidi (Wolf) Pawnee Morning Star Sacrifice to the planet Venus!

They would basically enslave a little girl and then one "brave" would shoot the little girl in the heart with an arrow while the other "brave" would smash her skull open with a warclub. The officiating "medicine man" would then use a flint knife to rip and tear her heart out and smear his face with her blood. Then they would fill her with arrows and let all her blood drain out onto the grass.

It seems the Pawnee learned this wonderful practice from their ancestors ... the Aztecs.

The last sacrifice was of Haxti, a 14-year-old Oglala (Lakota Sioux) girl on April 22, 1838.
