Most Obscure President of the USA

To me, its the ones in the 1800s. I've never heard of them before (besides Lincoln). Usually, I do like American History because it is quite... eventful

I mean, is it just me or does History often ignore older presidents like John Tyler

Ok, maybe its just me... but I'm keen to hear what our American members have to say on this.

I can name 15 presidents, so all the others are pretty obscure to me.

Perhaps you should consider the title of your thread and change it to lessor known Presidents.

There have been no obscure presidents of the United States. There are only students who chose not to listen well enough when told about them or to study what they were supposed to in order to learn about them.

Every president has had his importance in the history of The United States and without any of them the history would not be as full as it has been thus far.

Quite a few presidents, such as Tyler, came into office unwittingly, however each and every one had their individual impact on the office.

Perhaps it is because I'm past my prime but I never knew anyone who was not familiar with "Silent" Cal.

I suppose my research field test comes from my intermingling with my
students and seeing who they don't know. My list is based on the
broad general public, not well informed History lovers.

I think it is more my age that configures in this equation. I have lived life under 12 presidents. Coolidge was much more in memory of those whom I associated with during my formative years.

All: We are the mediocre presidents!
You won't find our faces on dollars or on cents!
There's Taylor, there's Tyler,
There's Fillmore and there's Hayes.
There's William Henry Harrison,
Harrison: I died in thirty days!
All: We... are... the...
Adequate, forgettable,
Occasionally regrettable
Caretaker presidents of the U-S-A!
