Native American Wars

Hi there i'm new, i'm Scott from Scotland living in England, one of my alltime interests is the Native American Indian Histories and pretty much anything in that field.
I find the whole topic completely fascinating and have read a fair amount including "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" and "Today is a good day to Fight" being just two of my particular favourites, i'm not so keen on fiction and cowboy and indian novels and films just don't do it for me.
I was shocked to read what really seems to have gone on during these times and yet again the reality of man's inhumanity to man in the name of power and ideology and greed comes to the fore.
I would love to start a dialogue with likeminded folk and am interested in the possibility of communicationg with true native Americans and finding out what they tell, are there many people like me in the UK who have the same interests, but probably from the horses mouth is the real way of knowing.
I hope there are others who would be happy to chat about this historical period and sort out some of the lesser known innacuracies.
Maybe my keen liking for Neil Young has something to do with this but for some reason Crazy Horse really intrigues me, don't know why but there it is, although of course all the Cheifs and indeed all the major players are interesting . Hope to hear from some folks. Scott.

Welcome to the forum. I have an interest in American Indian history, and some of that blood flows in my veins.

Amerindian History is fascinating, sad and a very worthwhile topic. Just select a question, post it and
you'll probably have a litany of answers.

I'm not Native American, but I have an interest in their culture and history, mostly focused on the plains tribes. Welcome to the site!

Welcome to Historum. You'll find this a lively place full of differing perspective sometimes at odds.

Native American history has long been an interest of mine both in books and travel adventures having personally visited sites and museums across the west. There is an unappreciated nobility to NA's but only in retrospect.

Chief Joseph of the Nez Pierce is a particularilly interesting case study and his "I Will Fight No More Forever" is a classic read. Should you visit the US "The Museum of the Plains Indian" in Browning Montana and "The Museum of Westward Expansion" in St. Louis, MO are superb displays that will be of interest to you.
