Most Badass President!

Hey, I'm not sure if this had been done before. I used the search function, but couldn't find anything.

Anyways, I decided to make this topic after I noticed I was drifting the topic about Palin resigning outward. Like the title said, who do you think was the most badass president and why?

For me, it's Teddy Roosevelt. Why? C'mon, the dude gave feiry speeches and helped to improve America's cities and welfare. He even acted calm in the face of assassination! He gets shot in the ribs and what does he do? He just calmly informs the crowd he had been shot, shows the bleeding wound and says the most badass line ever: "But it takes more than that to stop a Bull Moose!" before proceeding with his hour-long speech.

The guy's bleeding, in pain and he decides to wait for an hour to finish his speech before considering getting it examined. I don't think this is stupidity on his part. I think his years of wilderness trekking and his service in the Spanish-American War taught him which wounds deserved looking at and which didn't.

Also, on the day he died, one of his closest friends said that the reason Death took him during the night was because if it had taken him during the day, Teddy would've given it a sound thrashing. Now how's THAT for badass?

So, what are yours?

I was just thinking about the same thing with Jackson. Jackson was at the capital dome for a funeral. His would be killer walked up behind, from behind and pointed a pistol and pulled the trigger. After the flint misfired, he pulled out the backup that also failed. Jackson who finally realized what was going on turned and began to to beat him with his cane. Senators had to pull the president off him because the fear that he would kill the guy...

...maybe not as good as the story with TR but I always thought that was pretty badass.

Abraham Lincoln who was determined to keep America as the United States.

He fought overwhelming depression, insomnia, antagonistic cabinet members, dealt with the painful loss of his young son, kept his wife from becoming completely unstable, survived intense media criticism, grieved for the dead and injured soldiers, ignored assasination attempts - but still kept his principles and held a country together.

It's almost as if the more adversity he faced, the stronger he became.

I would agree that Lincoln is a good thought. What about Ronald Reagan? He stood up against the USSR and never backed down, winning the Cold War.

Agreed not to mention the wild party he threw at the white house or the indian boy he adopted after helping to slaughter the rest of the boys village...

I'm going to say Geo. Washington who I'm sure could be fairly intimidating & persuasive

Also, the take charge T.Roosevelt would be a force to reckon with.
