Tell you what, I'll settle for examples of wars where there was not one violation of the "laws of war."

How can you choose just one?

I dont see how you can choose just one? Many of the great ones are great for different reasons.George Washington lost more battles than he won,and he was a slightly better than average general if you count military strategy alone but what made him GREAT is his ability to must his men.His men loved him so much they would go to hell and back for him,his ability as a leader of men is why he is great,as for his actual military skills,he wasnt bad but he wasnt the greatest either, but to be able to have your men inspired by you so much they go through the fire with you is feat on it's own.StoneWall Jackson was a great military strategist and again had the full support of his men so much they would do anything he asked of them no matter the danger.Same with Robert E. Lee but my favorite was Andrew Jackson, also had charisma and his men would go the distance for him but I like him because of his military strategy not just at the Battle of New Orleans but all through the South with the Creek wars and others too.Plus he was just a bad-ass in his own right.I cant remember if Colin Powell was listed but he should be also.Nathaniel Greene was a real good choice, most people dont even know that if it weren't for him and the Battle of King's Mountain the American Revolution could have easily been lost

Oh so that makes it ok then, huh? I never said Sherman was the ONLY person to violate the rules of war, hell in the civil war there was no rules of war, many Confederate partisan fighters did the same things, they also killed civilians but you claimed Sherman didnt,I was just telling you the truth is that he did kill innocent people too

You make this too easy.

Napoleon's Total War

ExecutedToday.com 1799: The defenders of Jaffa, at Napoleon?s command

George Washington: French & Indian War

ExecutedToday.com seven years? war

books.google.com/books?isbn=1438110294

As for the Peloponnesian War, if one can even claim that laws of war were in place at the time, I daresay assaults on neutral powers like the Melians would suffice as violations.

Do try to keep your threads straight; we're not talking about Sherman in this thread at the moment. And come up with some sources that Sherman killed civilians, or go away, one of the two please.

That would make naming one or two ridiculously easy then. So do it.
