Besides writing the National Anthem, what other accomplishments did he make?

Most of his biographies are children's books, but there is one that might be of interest: Francis Scott Key, Author of the Star Spangled Banner : What Else He Was and Who by Francis Scott Key-Smith. It has been recently reprinted and is available.

He got married, had kids, practiced law. They were known to be a good Christian Family. His son was shot by some general whose wife he was messing around with. He died in 1843 and was initially buried in Baltimore. His corpse was subsequently moved to Fredericksburg (I think), MD.

He was also a brother-in-law to Chief Justice Roger Taney. Good connection for a lawyer, I guess.

He graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis. That's an accomplishment imo.
