In fairness, the usual pre-story to Antietam is that Lee's plans and dispositions had fallen into McClellan's hands by sheer accident before the battle.

As to superior resources: they have to be used properly. Apparently Grant did; others didn't.

McClellan did get ahold of a slightly outdated copy of Lee's marching orders, though it did not give Lee's current dispositions. McClellan did not force Lee to fight at Antietam, Lee chose to do so, which was a blunder on Lee's part.
