Some time ago I've read that Saddan Hussein was reconstructing the city of Babylonia usind bricks with his name on it.
So, when and by whom the city of Babylonia was completely destroyed?
I know that it wasn't by the Persians, nor by Alexander, Seleuco, the Parthians...

Thanks for the answer, barlier.
But, before Saddan started to rebuilt Babylonia, who completely destroyed her? Who made her disappear?

Could it have been the Mongols?
Honestly, I'm not sure, the latest I recall reading about it is under the Parthians. I don't even know if it existed under Sassanid Persia.

Thanks by the tip, Salah ad-Din. With that in mind I've found a lecture given by Dr. David Neiman and he says the same, that was Ghengis Khan who definetely destroyed tha city of Babylonia. | | |

According to the almighty Wiki, Babylon was virtually abandoned during the Hellenistic period as they were taken to Seleucia on the Tigris, and Babylon fell into obscurity.

Agreed. Babylon is one of my great loves of the ancient world, so I'd certainly like more information. I think it's the name, it just sounds so cool and mysterious.

If you find out more about Babylon... I think you'd be a rich person!
Hopefully I'll be able to learn more on the subject. I'm still reading this WW2 book on the German Empire but after this I'll be reading "Babylonian Life and History." Has cuniform tablets and their translations in some chapters... looks really really interesting, can't wait.

First was destroyed by the Hittites, then Assyrians.
It's now known as "Hilla" in Iraq.
