The Greatest Empire That Ever Existed.

I have read a lot into Ancient Greece and Roman. I am beginning to branch off and look into other civilizations. I got curios about this question.

My personal favorite right now is Roman because well, thats what I know. Haha I liked the Macedonian empire, but it was short lived after Alexanders death. I wonder the possibilities if it was able to live on.

What is your opinion and why? I am not going to set any specifications. I want to know your opinion and your reasoning behind so.

(Example): The British Empire because they were the biggest. Etc Etc.

If your choice is not in the poll, feel free to comment below!

Plenty of good options. I went with the British. As the world became smaller, so to speak, it truly was the empire upon which the sun never set. It’s cultural influence is evident, even in the nations that broke away. Here we type, in English , for a reason.

Persian's my choice. Almost half the world's people, three of the four ancient river valley's of civilization. Persia truly came the closest to world domination. Persia was about three times the size of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, the world's largest up to that point and established the precedent that giving conquered people's autonomy and being tolerant rather than brutal was the key to empire building. Empire lasted about 220 years before being taken out by Alexander and was no flash in the pan.

Before Persia the Middle East was fragmented and the region was full of notable warring civilizations and Persia united all of them and while Persia was conquered, the Middle Eastern core of the Persian Empire more or less remained united(under countless empires) until the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Media, Babylon, Elam(Assyrians had conquered them beforehand), Egypt, Lydia,Judea, Phoenicia, all of it was under the reign of the Persian Empire.

I think it has to be Roman for me. Simply because you asked for "the greatest" and Rome has had such an overwhelming impact on Western culture that it has become synonymous with greatness.

Now if you asked for the largest, or most influential, or the one I'd most like to live in, or wish was still around or etc... I might have a different answer. But for greatness? Has to be Rome.

The Roman Empire was about half the size of the Indian or Chinese Empires. The Mughal Empire in India was three times the size of the Ottoman Empire.

You haven't included any Indian Empires in your list.
