Greeks saw Halley's Comet in 466 BC


The Greeks may have observed Halley's Comet, in 466 BC, 3 orbits before the Chinese recorded the comet, in 240 BC:

It's always fascinated me how much ancient people knew about the night sky. I know nothing about it. I probably couldn't even point out Orion's Belt.

I suppose one must remember it was a different world, primarily without street lighting.
