The Ikom Monoliths (250 B.C - 170 A.D)
The Ikom monoliths are large volcanic stone man made structures dating back from 250 B.C to 170 A.D. There are a number of them placed in almost a perfect circle in the cross river regions of Nigeria and Cameroon. They are believed to have been built by the first settlers in the area. Each monolith has a unique design consisting of two eyes, an open mouth and 10 fingers. Each also contains geometric shapes, from circles to squares. They are one of the discoveries about Sub-Saharan Africa's history lost history being found everyday.
