I think that the time/era a person lives in seems quite normal to that person. There are pros and cons to living in any age. So probably both exciting and dangerous.

Yeah but the problem is that back in those days one could die from a simple infection.
No antibiotics were known.

Yes I agree, one of the cons about the previous ages - illness.

Makes us feel somewhat lucky in that respect, considering how technology and medicine has come on...
