Post Crucial battles of the antiquity


What I'm asking you to do is to mention battles you feel you have to be acquainted with when talking about ancient history.
They could be important because of changes of rule, culture, annihilations of former powerful civilisations, etc...
You just have to discuss why you think it's important.

Herod Antipas' battle with King Aretas of Nabotea, likely around late A.D. 35. He lost horribly, and Tiberius ordered Syrian President Lucius Vitellius to avenge him.

According to some timelines, if it never happened, John the Baptist would not have been beheaded, and Jesus would not have been crucified.

Yeah; apparently John the Baptist spoke out against a scandal of the time in whih Herod left his wife for the lover of his brother..

Setting precedents for home-wreckers ever after. Now we know where Ryan Giggs got his idea from
