For me, how could it not be Athens?
The world capital of free thought and philosophy and a very high standard of living. Many of the most brilliant minds of the time gathered together in one city-state. Excellent.

Well, if I choose by heart I will chose Macedon because it was and is my family's homeland.
However, my scientific nature would make me choose Alexandria, Halicarnassos, Smyrne or Athens.

Sparta. A truly unique society and the progenitor of western, representative-democracy.

Syracuse. They're fascinating and under-represented.

Athens, of course. Most influential city ever.
