So who built the Kaaba?

Has there been any archaeological excavations in Mecca in order to find out when and who really built the Kaaba?

If there was an excavation I doubt it would be any relevant. The Kaaba is one of those pre-islamic holy sites that witnessed the existence of a semi-tribal society based around a priestly caste. Surely the Abbasids, Ayyubids, Mamluks and Ottomans played with it, but to what point it's hard to say.

The al-Kaʿba is very old, that's all one could say and of certain pre-muslim origin. It was once dedicated to the god Hubal, the main god of the Quraiš. The recent appearence goes AFAIK go back to the early 17th century, when it was rebuild.

I know that archaeologists want to take a look at it, as do scientists with the black stone. It simply isn't going to happen.

I've read that it is describable as an unattractive square rock box was draped with more appealing covers with the corners exposed, one of which has a black rock that had split and was wired and glued back together. The "split" seems to have special significance and it generally kissed by the faithfull close enought to it as they circle around it in vast numbers each year. Originally, it was where the tribal banners of pre-Islamic Arabia and regarded as holy to their early religion. There is also some myth about it being inhabited by a snake. The snake and the moon crescent could have been left over from the Goddess worshiping age.

"The al-ka'ba" is wrong! You may say "al-ka'ba" or "The ka'ba" instead.

Also, mind the Arabic grammar Nazis.

the Kaaba was built by the prophets Abraham and his son Ishmael. the story is well known that Abraham brought Hajer who is Ishmael’s Mother to deserted place and left her and her son in that place which had no water. So Hajer called the God for water and peace and the God responded to her and exploded a spring of water in the place. Then Abraham came and built the Kaaba in that place with help of his son Ishmael. When people see that they gathered and inhabit that place. And this all of the story

you are absolutely right. (AL-) in Arabic stand for (The) in English.

What a wonderful myth, but just a myth. Abraham is a mythical person and can hardly be taken as real. And as I said above, the Ka'ba was dedicated to Hubal, so a tribal place of worshiping. The Ka'ba became a muslim place by Mohammed.
