What about Illyricum? I'm not knowledgable about it that's why I ask.

This depends a lot on the period of time and your social status, doesn't it? For the upper class, maybe in Rome or Mediolanum or Constantinople, depending on whichever the capital was, as they could get to the politics and most up-to-date leisure. For the middle class who wants little of politics, I guess Iberia, Gaul, North Africa or Asia Minor should do just fine. For the lower class (who don't have choice, they were mistreated anywhere anyway), maybe in Egypt or Constantinople.

Most likely Italy. Italy was the heart of the Empire and the center of power. Most goods in the Empire were directed towards Italy and Italians were citizens of Rome so that brought some privileges with it. Egypt and Syria are not bad as well, and from 3rd century, I think they were more stable than Italy, despite the Persian Wars.

Western part of Asia Minor for me. I would probably choose Africa instead. Italia was also a center of civil wars and such.

Africa is also a nice place, at least until the Vandals came.

Good climate, lovely city. There would be a threat of Berber raids, but the city was well protected, especially during the second century AD.

Not sure why Africa is left out of the poll...

I voted Italy, but after reading this thread, I'm convinced Egypt was the best answer.

The good stuff all went to Italy. A lot of it CAME from Egypt.

The Egyptians were also better at math and had less body hair.

Gosh, that came off as oddly specific.
