Italian pop opera

In these years in Italy we are observing a curious phenomenon: there is a group of young opera singers who are meeting a great success abroad, but they would be almost unknown in Italy if they didn't win San Remo festival.

I'm making reference to "Il Volo" [and who has seen the final of America got talent is the one who knows what I'm talking about].

Now, why Italian opera is more appreciated abroad than in Italy?

This is something I'm thinking about. After Pavarotti it seems that Italians have put again opera in its limited environment. Licit ... but why Italian opera meets such a success abroad?
