Limericks and nonsense verse

Here are my first original contributions:

There was an old spinster from Claire
Who wore Chinese pins in her hair.
She said "My name's Dinah,
And I'm not from China,
But Lord! I would rather live there".

A very strict Vegan from Cork
Would eat neither chicken nor pork:
No fish, flesh or fowl,
Not even an owl.
He ate only soup...with a fork!

There was a young Dutchman called Piet
Who was oh so handsome and sweet.
He made girls' heads spin,
But he would not sin
Because he was pure and discreet.
The ladies, love-stricken and blue,
Tried every sly trick that they knew,
But Piet would not fall
As Vice's weak thrall:
To his dear wife he remained true.

Do they have to be original?

No, David; they can be old classics, too, but it's really fun to create some!

Young Marie was a Queen
and wed to Louis Sixteen
She was happy and gay
until that sad day
when she met Citizen Guillotine

One I didn't make up but that I like a lot as it reminds me of a lot of academics (not to mention quite a few posters on Historum:

Please consider Professor Twist
A conscientious scientist
While camped by a tropic riverside
One day he missed his loving bride
She had, the guide informed him later,
Been eaten by an alligator
Professor Twist could not but smile
You mean, he said, a crocodile.

Your Marie Antoinette limerick is nice, David! Keep up the good work.

I hope that the pedantic Professor Twist doesn't remind you of ME...

A man with small hands had to tweet,
A billionaire narcissistic elite,
elected by the base, he had problems with race,
is he headed for re-election defeat?
