Lightbulb Fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square

In Londons Trafalgar square there is a vacant plinth for a statue. The original statue was to have been William IV but it was never commissioned due to his lack of popularity with the public. The Plinth has been used recently for the display of temporary artworks but I feel it should be home to a permanent piece of monumental art or statuary. What do Historumites think should be displayed here at the heart of the greatest capital city on earth? I look forward to your suggestions and I will add my own idea, but a little later as it could be considered flippant and I don't want to prejudice the thread.

William Churchill, unless he's already got one. Or FDR. Where would the UK be without his help?

You mean Winston Churchill's lesser known twin brother?

How about Charles Darwin, for the American tourists to admire?

I vote for something that is in keeping with the spirit of the rest of the plinths, so none of this Spice Girls or David Beckham nonsense. Fred Roberts, Garnet Wolseley, Colin Campbell, Charles Gordon, someone like that.

Put the British guy with the best beard in history. I know I'd like to see a statue of Rutherford B. Hayes:

Churchill already has a statue in Parliament square, not a very good one in my opinion. And FDR? we should commemorate the British and commonwealth forces and leaders before him as the whole 'England would have lost the war if it wasn't for us Americans' routine is pure BS. The USSR won WWII!, at least in Europe.
