Currently in Flanders "Maria" is the most common girl's name with 183.000 women carrying the name, second are about 126.000 called "Marie". Third 47.000 go by the name of Monique.

For men it's Jean, Marc and Michel with respectively +/- 100.000, 70.000 and 58.000 people.

Most Greek women are named Maria (my wife is not).
Half of Greek men are named Yorgos (as me).
The other half of Greek men are named Yannis (as my son).

Times change. When I was growing up in the 1950's it was John/Ian, Barry,Trevor, Wayne,Dennis,Anthony, Michael, William, Patrick.

For girls; Mary, Eilizabeth, Catherine, Helen, Dianne,Carmel,Maureen.
