If you could pick one myth to be real from ancient mythology around the world, which one would you choose?
It could be a simple myth about an animal or flower, or maybe a myth about emotions and human actions. What about all the myths about how fire and water came to be on the earth? Or how the stars got into the sky? Or how people came to be on the earth?
If you could choose it to be so, what would be the most fantastic myth to be found to be real?
Remember, this myth is real, our favourite myths are one thing, but for the myth of say, Prometheus being real would not be so great for him...

I am no expert on ancient mythology, but I do like to believe that there really was a King Arthur, that the myth is built around a foundation of actual fact. I like to believe that there really was a Romano-British king who for a time beat back the Anglo-Saxon invaders. If such a thing ever occurred it would be great if only the facts were recoverable. As it is, however, even the myth is quite compelling.
Interestingly, the author Bernard Cornwell, wrote a trilogy of historical fiction about King Arthur, whose plausibility is quite remarkable - The Winter King, Enemy of God, and Excalibur. I would strongly recommend these books to anyone who both enjoys historical fiction, and has any interest in King Arthur.

Awesome, that is one great myth that I too would love to be factual. | | |
