My apologies, due to lack of time I usually can't read all the posts in such big threads as this. I am very glad that Ion Andreescu was known to you!

Those are quite unique. Do you remember some other Romanian cartoons from the time you were a kid? Frankly, that's perhaps one aspect of communist times I appreciate - illustration and animation were often excellent, one of a kind. Then in 1990s everything was devoured by Disney

That looks special - Canadian Art Deco, and a woman into the bargain. There are few art deco painters, so great find, thak you Ftil.

But Lawren Harris was I think a better painter. His work is very striking and powerful. I've never been to Canada but I imagine the sheer sope and bredth of your landscapes requires a special visual language. Like here:

Englishman Aubrey Beardsley drew something like that - and yes, he was strongly inspired by Japanese ink painting. Now I see where he got the idea!

I share your opinion about Harris paintings. There are powerful and magical.
I like a few Carr's paintings but I was shocked when Carr’s The Crazy Stair (The Crooked Staircase) was sold for $2.9 million. I definitely have a different taste.

The Crazy Stair

I prefer Winslow Homer. American (February 24, 1836 – September 29, 1910) best known for his marine subjects.
