One hymn, many subjects

This is one of the most beautiful hymns I ever heard, possibly because the composer was a poet?

Original version

US version

A question: British late XIXth century folkes shouldn't sing the original version? ...

enjoy
.. many may have sung it, so, remind, if you will, and let us know!

(In my case, I've taken chords, so as to try make it come out of the mandolin I have nearby )

It's also known as the Londonderry Air

(or should that be the London Derriere?)
