1963-The Hollies began recording their first sessions for their first album.

1970-Neil Diamond received a gold record for “Cracklin’ Rosie.”

1990-The Byrds, LaVern Baker, John Lee Hooker, The Impressions, Wilson Pickett, Jimmy Reed and Ike & Tina Turner were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Peter Warlock had enough talent for ten composers and squandered it. A truly sad case. His music is refined ... but with a raw edge (if you can see what I'm trying to say!). Probably a genius. I'm so glad you picked up on his birthday.

For my contribute, I shall name the premier of Copland's dazzling Appalachian Spring in 1944 in Washington DC.

A quiet day such as it seems to have been in the history of music. So quiet in fact that when finding a significant event becomes almost impossible, we can resort to using the old style calender. I'll need to remember that the next time I'm stuck!
