Carl Davis is American? Hmm, I didn't know that. I've always thought he was British.

My contribution is scant today: Premier of Rimsky Korsetsoff, Scheherezade in 1888.

Also, this day (27 Oct.) in 1991 saw the death of Polish composer Andrezj Panufnik. A favourite of mine.
