The Coronation of Napoleon I Bonaparte, Empereur des Francais, Roi d'Italy et Protecteur du confederation du Rhine. My favourite moment in history and my favourite painting. Made by Louis David:

You can really see the "delicacy" of this young woman(It's the only portrait of the post that I managed to admire "live")

Philip the Good of Burgundy and his retinue by Rogier van der Weyden(1447)

Hello! I just joined the forum and so this post is rather late...but I hope you don't mind. Our website offers a collection of nineteenth century American paintings, as well as two collections of nineteenth century photographs taken by American photographers. The paintings are discussed in historical context (for instance, was it art or propaganda?), http://www.cliohistory.org/visualizingamerica/; the photographs are presented both as documentary records of nineteenth century life and as a new art form, Clio: Photography Exhibits of Early American Women Photographers. (This is an educational non-profit, non-commercial project.)
