I'm not really understanding what you're saying...are you talking about the Sino-Japanese Wars?

So you mean that you want a book written by a Chinese author or non-Japanese author so you can see the perspective of both sides

Re: THE WAR BETEEN JAPAN AND CHINA

If he's talking of 20th century warfare between the two, I suggest he try reading Iris Chang's The Rape of Nanking, which dealt with the brutal Japanese occupation of the city of the same name. Japanese imperial troops butchered approximately 300,000 non-combatants -- men, women, and children -- in just six short weeks. I'm sure the thread-starter is well aware of this genocide and he may be interested in this fine piece of work by a knowledgable historian.

Matter of fact, I think I just might start a thread on the topic in the near future...

I'm reading "Japan and the world since 1868" and "Japanese expansion on the Asiatic continent". These two books do not focus on war atrocities or fight tactics but rather on history and foreign policies. Some of the authors' opinions might be biased, but I think the two books have made me know more about Japan and its relationship with China, Korea, Russia, Britain and America.

I'm recommending these two books simply because they help us to learn history, not because I like expansionism or I agree with the authors' opinions.

I am not Japanese, but have taken the emnity of Japan towards China in the past as one of a youthful Nation attempting to supplant the originator of all "culture" in the area to gain supremacy and respect.

I'm not Japanese either. I'm reading books on Japan because I want to know more about other cultures. I believe Japan's culture has been shaped by its foreign policies (since 6th century A.D.) and that's why I'm interested in Japan's relations with other nations.

I would compare Japan to Germany and China to Russia.

With the former having more prestige but the latter being bigger.

Both contribute to society about equal, but the former get more credit because their nations are smaller and the latter being looked down upon like ants simply because there's too much of them.

Well back to the issue. Is this thread focusing on the first or second sino-japanese war or both? Is the relevant matter why war broke out or how the wars were fought?
