Question Query about the Satavahanas

Hi all,

I was wondering seeing if anyone could point me in the direction of books on the satavahanas. Also, there seems to be very little in the way of primary sources for this period. I've been trying to find out what the primary sources used are but have mostly failed (well, I've been searching on the internet). I know that the chronology of kings is from the Puranas and mostly matched with coins and inscriptions, but what about record? Documentation of revenue? Edicts of some kind? I know they had designated officers who took care of documentation so there must be records right? I mean Satakarni I ruled for 56 years and I can at best find a couple of paragraphs on his reign!

Anyway, thanks in advance. This is my first post on here, looking forward to some good history nerding!

Sorry, they remain to a certain extent nebulous. Wikipedia has given most of the information. However, for the benefit of members of this forum here is a Satavahana Laxmi which was found in the ruins of Pompii. Absolutely beautiful. Indians were very negligent as far as history goes. Emperors and kings hardly mattered to them.

Sadly, we have very little documentation aside from inscriptions, land grants, and coins (and the rather Puranic lists written long afterwards, which are probably not completely accurate).
