My vote for Ban Chao, i like how with a relative shortness of resources he could gain so much, mixing the adequate policy and military actions. I think he was one of the few real conquerors of China, in the meaning of conquistador in foreign land, because in China generals used to be highly controlled by central government and most of the conquest were due a common, not individualized, action. Ban Chao actions was the opposite, mostly the product of his initiative, actually many battles and wars of his life were fought more than against China, against him. He and his army were very adventurous, not many chinese armies went until the Caspian Sea.
