The Nothern and Souther Sung Dynasties

I read about the tributes sent by the Yamato court to the Souther Sung court between the years 421 to 478 in the book The Cambridge History Of Japan : Ancient Japan.

The Cambridge History Of Japan : Ancient Japan

When I google Souther Sung dynasty It show that the souther sung dynasty era is 1127–1279. I am so confused. What relation exists the between the Liu uong dynasty of 420–479 CE and the sung dynasty of 12th Century CE?

There was no relationship between the Liu Sung Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties and the Sung Dynasty of the 12th century; they were not related.

The Southern Sung Dynasty of the 12th century was a continuation of the Northern Sung Dynasty of the 11th century. The Northern Sung Dynasty was destroyed by the Jurchens in 1127.

The Liu Sung Dynasty of the 5th century CE was founded by Liu Yu, thus the emperors' family name was Liu.

The Sung Dynasty of the 12th century CE was founded by Zhao Kwang Yin, thus the emperors' family name was Zhao.

To distinguish these two dynasties, you should remember that the first Sung Dynasty was Liu Sung, while the second Sung Dynasty was Zhao Sung.

Thank you so much.

Acturally many dynasties' names come from ancientry, especially from the vassal states in Zhou.
Sung(宋) was first a place in Henan Province, then became a dukedom of Zhou. And it was used by some later emperors.Other examples are Jin(晋) Sui(隋) Tang(唐) Wei(魏) Wu(吴) etc.
