White Lotus Society was very powerful in the old China. In fact, the Ming dynasty was founded by the members of the White Lotus Society, which was a Chinese sect of the Persian Manichaeism. Their bitterest rival was not even the Mogolians, but other White Lotus Society factions. It promoted apocalyptic view of the end of the world and had been a long-standing source of rebellion in the old China.
