Japanese War - Historum

I don't know if this is in the right place.
But I was wondering what everyone knew about this war? I don't know if this is the name or anything.
It's not a homework question by the way.
Just, in general really, because my Grandad faught against the Japanese in South Asia or somewhere - I really should listen to my Dad!
So, yeah... that's it really.
Kinda pointless, but I'm rubbish at researching stuff to be honest.
And i just wanna know, 'cos of my Grandad and stuff.
I've heard the Japanese were pretty ... harsh, though there's probably a better word to describe them!

it would help if you told us the time period as well, because japan's history is riddled with conflict until the end of WWII

I just asked Dad and he said WWII and he faught in South East Asia.
If that helps? LOL

I'm studying A Level.
I never took an interest in History up until Year 11.
Where we did WWI. We've never looked at WWII lol.I probably know some stuff, but tbh, I can't think of anything off the top of my head.
Yeah, I sound think of whatever, but I'm actually not.
If we study it, I know it really well and I really get into it, lol.

"Harsh" is an understatement. The Japs did barbaric things during the war (as bad as the Germans): rape, murdering civilians, torturing Allied prisoners, slave labor, cannibalism, chemical weapons, experiments on Chinese prisoners. They used to throw babies in the air and impale them on their bayonets for amusement.

Wow.
That's awful.

Do you know what it would have been like for the army fighting them?
Especially in Burma [sp?] and South East Asia.
That's where my Grandad was based.
