Getting it on: Sexuality in Tokugawa Japan

In Japan, as in other cultures, a major aspect of ones gender (masculinity in particular) was sexual activity. Sexuality in Japan in this age was more diverse then in Europe. Not only having relations with multiple partners, but also male-male relations. These male-male relations, not unlike that of the Greeks, appear to have typically been between and older man and a younger man.

The question is, how was sexuality different in the Tokugawa period from other periods, or from contemporary Asian nations.
