Posted July 31st, 2012 at 01:36 PM by Salah

Looking at it with apparent unconcern, she...continued with her work.

The above account comes from the memoirs of Joseph...

Battles of the Roman-Persian Wars

Posted July 31st, 2012 at 01:35 PM by Salah

Though by not means a comprehensive list of every armed encounter between the armies of the Imperium Romanum and the domain of the King of Kings of Iran and Non-Iran, this thread will examine some of the primary battles between ancient Rome and Sassanid Persia, spanning the 3rd and 4th Centuries. Year of Six Emperors

When word reached Rome of the defeat of the Gordians and Capellianus’ brutal occupation of Africa, the Senate found itself in a terrifying position – in revolt against the current Emperor, without a choice of Emperor of their own. They chose two of the most distinguished members of the twenty-man council that had been ruling in the name of the Gordians, Pupienus and Balbinus, to rule and lead the opposition to Maximinus. Both of these men were accomplished administrators

The Lives of the Gordians - Part I

Posted July 31st, 2012 at 01:33 PM by Salah

In 235 CE, the last of Rome's Severan emperors was savagely murdered by a military officer named Maximinus Thrax. The son of a barbarian peasant and a Thracian provincial, Maximinus spent almost his entire reign on campaign against Germanic and Sarmatian tribes on the Danube. He bears the unique distinction of being the first Roman emperor to personally fight in battle, but he governed much like he fought - with simple-minded brutality.

By 238, the people of the Roman Empire were sick
