The story of a Hungarian freedom fighter

Posted November 25th, 2017 at 08:29 AM by brushhippie

Really have no outlet for this so here is where I will post it..perhaps someone will enjoy it perhaps not..that is yet to be seen..ok..a preface if you will..I am no writer as you will see..I do not punctuate properly so here goes..
The story begins in 198 where they find the body of a Hungarian immigrant..shot in the back by a hidden assailant. Three days after the mans body was found my mother..to whom I owe a good deal of info on the events that followed... was sworn in as Public Administrator..the man having no family became her first ward...probably the wrong word since he was deceased but...w/e This is his story...the readers digest condensed version..the man was born in Hungary of Magyar decent, grew up to wealthy or privileged parents..(we have yet to come across their identities yet) He grew up a member of Levente where he received training that would later earn him a commission in the Hungarian Army where he served in Budapest during the Russian invasion...being among some hundred and eighty odd Hungarians transported from Romania to Saratov Russia... he spent the next four years in a Russian POW camp....released in forty eight he set out across Europe trying to enlist help to release the communist grip the Hungarians were suffering under during the Russian occupation..traveling to Austria Germany, France..(just what I have found so far) and beyond sending countless letters to officials all over the world. He continued his work with Levente in an underground group called "For Hungarian Youth" and printed and underground newspaper of the same name...it is NOT a coincidence that it was the students who rose up against the Russians in 1956...when he was forced to flee the country in fear of his life. He arrived in the US in 1956 where his work continued for many years. tbc

As it turns out he actually escaped from the pow camp...also found out recently that he worked for the French military in Austria from 51 trough 53 as an attache I guess you would call it..apparently there left in 53...all in the documents he had filed with the world council of churches to be resettled in the US as part of a refugee program.
