I always liked jokes.
I like them not only cause they're funny, but good jokes use to have a way of their own to say more that they should.
Not sure that the joke i like are good. Nor that You will like them.
But hey, as I can have my blog, I will post them.
You can just ignore it
Or You can ask the mods to shut the blog, too

p.s. hope You will not mind if I will post some of my thoughts and impressions beside the jokes

The Voice

I admit, I do like to listen "The Voice". The auditions, in fact.

I am on Historum usually when it's broadcast, so it's like for the jury: blind.

I am listening only with half of my left ear (the one still partially functional), so I pass the introductions, the advertising adds.

And now and then I hear something. I stop reading or writing my post (a good think now and then, actually. Replying, that is). But still not looking. It is a good concept of the show, not seeing the singer, one is not influenced by unnecessary details as physical look, dress....

So I leave Historum, I turn, rewind (it's good to have a cable with «replay» function!), listen again, seeing the person this time, listen the jury's comments.

This year I am mainly with the France's « Voice», because I like the jury: Florent Pagny, Zazie, Mika, Jennifer. I like them as persons, their comments. An year or two ago I simply adored the English one. Well, Tom Jones had something to do with.

I have the impression that the producers are pushing the commercial music so hard, so far, fabricating, manufacturing musical stars based on marketing formula, that I have the impression they crossed a line were public start to follow no more. Off course, the perfection is there, as the entire chain of production is based on professionals of a fantastic level. But it's exactly were the trouble comes from: there is no more soul left.

I think it is significant to see the typology of the candidates lately: despite the professionalism of the show, the obvious limitations imposed by the concept, the guiding lines of the producers, more and more You see the appetite of the public for something new, unformatted, real. Something that has something to do with music: a soul.

And even if as we advance in the competition those atypicalities, too fat, too old, too skinny, odd curiosities that can't sell a so too polished image of ideal start to disappear, they leave a small mark in the consumers memory.
Some continue their small carrier, or start a small one. Not Madonna's, obviously. And maybe it's better so. They remain real, sincere, they give us a bit of their soul, share with us the beauty of music. Not getting any reacher , but making us all a bit reacher.

    Samira Brahmia

Samira Brahmia, a Franco-Algerian made a choise that at first glance, could be qualified as risky, at least: «Haramtou Bik Nouassi». Risky, because, well, an Arab song, sung in Arab, today, in France...

But music know better than that.

A great song (a very old one: it's Arabo-Andalus, from the 14-15th century), so I will better leave You listen:

    . . .

As Jennifer said: "I just found it beautiful. I don't know what this song is telling, but it was so poetic ..."

I have a sort of a translation (not sure how accurate, but it is my best):

Can't find my sleep, Oh, Queen of gazelles.
I confessed to my friends my whole love to You.
    I I became Your slave,
My tears are filling my cup, I can't eat no more.
The nostalgia is haunting me and it's oppressing, but it is hard for me to see You,
Every sunset brings back the memory of Your place,
Every sunset I miss my gracious beloved,

I long for all my friends and fear any Cerberus,
My heart consumes by the flames of my passion,
My beloved left me into the desert of the loneliness
Every sunset brings back the memory of Your place,
Every sunset I miss my gracious beloved,

    * * * *

    Battista Acquaviva

    A traditional Corsican song.

We heard the Corsican polyphonic traditional chants. We know those uncultivated voices, full of the pain of poverty, full of the force of grief, full of the fierce that knows not what kneeling means.

But this time is a woman voice. I will spoil not the song nor her singing by talking It's something to listen. Open Yourself to beauty, to the unexpected, to what can be felt but not described.

Out of our world, out of any time:

When "Pop Idol" becames Невена Цонева

And sometimes, not that often, the well greased commercial machine ends eaten by the prey

Nevena Tzoneva. At the selections, she prepared Christina Aguilera's "The voice within" and "Danyova Mama" .

Slavi (one of the juries): "Danyova Mama?"
    Nevena: "Yes"
Slavi: "You aren't capable to sing that one!"
Nevena: "Well, You can see if I can sing it!"
Slavi: "Are You sure You want to sing it ? And if You fail ?"
    Nevena: "I will not fail!"
Slavi: "Ok then, sing "Danyova Mama"."
    (Another juries): "Carefully". [1]

To someone unfamiliar to the Bulgarian folk singing, the dialogue might seem strange. It is not. Christina Aguilera, Madona, Roxy Music, I can buy. Bulgarian folk song ? That's an other league. It is not for everybody. Not for the "so You think You can sing" kind.

So here is Nevena Tzoneva. Not at auditions, but in the contest. The Bulgarian (no that "pop") Idol.

    . . .

    Adam Lambert

Now, of course I could comment a lot on these contests, that are more endless TV shows than real contests.

But in the end, even if concepts behind are debatable, it doesn't matter. There are always gems appearing. And in the end, that is what counts.

I really had difficulties to find a song to post here. But for once, it was because I did not decide which one to choose: there too many. Because this kid is a real born singer. And star.

Well, what the heck, ignore the pathetic TV blaha-blah before and after the singing,go to sec 56 and just listen Adam Lambert filling huge shoes ...

    Redemption Song

Well, it's true it's named "The voice". So it's supposed to have people with voice, with a good one, coming. But it's music, and a song it's more than just voice. There are lyrics, meant to say something together with the music.

    It's interpreting, transmitting. Feelings. Atmosphere.

So, here is Mitchell Brunings interpreting, and how beautifully, the Redemption Song:

    Still Loving You

I don't know about You, but God, I danced on this song. And I suppose there are others that can't think at it sung by others than the Scorpions, with that so particular voice of Klaus Meine.

But … one should never say never …

Because, there's … Russia, for example. And there's that guy called Sharif Umhanov that thinks he can dare to sing that ballad of ballads …

He was more than right: Gradtzki didn't needed the third bar to recognise a voice ...

    O Ses Türkiye

OK, You're going to say I'm going political ... well, I am, 'cause music can get political.

It can pass messages and passions like nothing else can do. I think it was some Greek guy wanting to keep musicians out of his ideal polis. Was it Plato? Never mind. But he knew something.

Maybe Tuğçe Gendigelen isn't the best voice that the Voice of Turkey had seen passing by, but she really has character. So much that she is putting on fire everything in two beats only. And the look ...

Watching and listening her, somewhere in the back of my head, something started buzzing :

    Man, this is Turkey.

How will deal Erdogan, with all his "evet" with this Turkey? She had 100% "evet" ...

How will deal Tuğçe Gendigelen with Erdogan's Turkish dream?

    . . .

PS: have patience and watch till the end: it's on of the extremely rare occasions where there's a "bis", as the jury (those turning later) wanted to see the performance from the beginning too ... and the second variant it's even better than the first one...

I suppose the candidates I rehearsing with the band before the blinds. I sometimes dream that I could be present, to see how the candidate works with the band, how the band adapts itself, the orchestration, the style … because those background bands are absolutely fantastic. The level they are accompanying absolutely everything, it's … well, no way to say how professional they are.

I crossed the Bosphorus, for listening the "Skyfall".

And I think I start to like more the Greek metallic Skyfall than the original …
