So as some may have noticed over the past few weeks I have made an effort of posts detailing some of the crusading ventures that occurred in the Middle Ages. I have limited myself thus far to most of the minor ones, partly because they also happen to be ones less commonly known about and so might prove quite interesting, but also because writing a post for some of the large and better known ones will take a considerable amount of time. Perilous Glory was anything but a perilous read, it was rather the opposite, quite addicitve. John France has written a very engaging and easy going account of warfare across the world since the year dot. Certainly no easy task to accomplish, and to do so, rather well in only a single volume.
