Writer of Words

Not only do I love history but I am a poet as well. Here are some of my poems dealing with history.

Bonnie Young Lad

In the Hills of Scotland lived a bonnie young lad
who watched over this flock faithfully
He had hair as black as cool and eyes as blue as the Loch
little did this bonnie lad know
that he had stolen the heart of a fair maiden below

Oh the fair maiden so true
tried to tell the bonnie lad a thing or two
for his heart belonged to the land and of the clan
and no fair maiden would take him away
for his heart was tried and true to the land he called home.

As I walk into the streets of the small quaint village I live,
I see the buildings that surround me in the bright color of the sunlight
I see children playing in the streets, chasing a ball and laughing
I hear the hawkers selling their wares of many different shapes and colors
I hear the men bartering for the price of many things they want
I notice the women looking thru the items, both dressed of rich and poor
I smell the sweet smell of the flowers being sold by the flower girl
I smell the smell of bread baking in a near by bakery shop
I notice the rogue of boys who try to pickpocket the passer byes
but there is only one thing I feel as I walk passed these scene
which is the love of that is shared by my the true love holding my hand
as I enjoy everything around me

As I lay down to sleep, I dream of my home long ago
I see the green grass blowing by the cool wind along the hillsides
and the mountains in the distance with the icy peaks
I smell the bountiful scent of heather and see its wondrous color
and in the distance I hear the familiar sounds of the bagpipes playing their old tune

As I walk to the village of old, I see the young children playing in their colorful kilted skirts
The women busy doing their chores and the men talking of future plans
On the hillside, the young men are tending the sheep as
young maidens watch in joy of who will be their future husbands

How I wish I could be there as I had in the past but all this is a vision and once will be no more
now when I wake, I see the big city that now takes the place of the village
that was once called home.
How I wish I could be there as it was before when the rushing pace of today
does not take place and there was joy all around instead of despair

Death as black as the ravenís wing
carried from the earth to the land of Hades
There is no grief, no sorrow, only relief,

Blood as red as the deepest Rose
flows from the wound that you have caused
each drop like a tear from the heavens

Stench pungent as the battle of war
Carried on the winds thru heaven and hell
Such a sweet smell to carry my soul

Love as meaningless as life itself
Never caring and always taking
Shall become nothing less for me.
