"G--gle Earth"

Posted April 21st, 2011 at 04:31 AM by gericksen

My grandfather's system was g--gle earth on steroids. That is what one man said about my grandfather's system (Arthur J. Ericksen from Staten Island). My grandfather in the 1930's developed the idea of placing the earth in grids using number and letters. His system involved photographing the earth at different elevations. He trained the U.S. military (Colonels) on how to use his system during world war II while he awaited his patent hearing. My grandfather wrote how with his system one could take the globe and zoom down to a particular street to see a building from any angle. Why did he receive no recognition? I have all of his books proving that he was the first to come up with this g--gle earth idea. The patent office gave him a very hard time since it was not a mechanical device. I am hoping his work still gets recognized to this day....even if we don't ever receive a cent from g--gle. Does anyone know who I could even show all of his work to? Thanks! Glenn Ericksen
