Modern Warfare's Soft Consequences

Posted May 3rd, 2011 at 08:55 AM by helix

Does anyone think that America's over-reliance on technology in military operations has made the public less willing to accept combat losses? I believe most people have forgotten the fact that no matter how many satellites, drones, laser-guided bombs, etc. you possess, hands still must be dirtied, and losing 4 -5 soldiers in an operation is not enormous when compared to Korea and Vietnam.
People have forgotten that bad things can and do happen in war, and have subscribed to the notion that warfare has become so surgical in nature, any substabtial # if KIA is not worth the price, no matter how positive.
