Le' Back!

Posted February 10th, 2013 at 03:47 AM by HistoryFreak1912

OK, how long was I gone?

Well, I am back again with a lot of history questions, and I feel a bit more mature than I was when I left. I guess I just needed time before I returned.

SO! This is a fresh new start where I come to ask a whole bunch of history questions. Some may not be all that serious, some may be serious, but hey, its history. It's not all about the serious war and politics.

I remember now why I liked history to begin with. It wasn't the big...

Zerkov, a character from "McTeague" by Frank Norris (1899)

Posted September 7th, 2011 at 01:01 PM by HistoryFreak1912

I don't know why, but every time I read about Zerkov in Frank Norris' McTeague, I feel offended.

Basically, the book has Zerkov, a red-headed, Polish Jew who keeps pestering a Mexican woman over gold and other priceless possessions her family once owned.

Basically, he's the living stereotype of the greedy Jew.

I guess it's just my modern senses glaring at Norris, wondering why the **** he made this character. Of course, I keep having to remind myself that...

I think something is wrong with me...

Posted August 23rd, 2011 at 01:51 PM by HistoryFreak1912

Listening to YouTube videos of Siberian Huskies howling/singing/crying gives you an eerie, haunting vibe. It sounds…passionate, almost sad.

Sometimes, whenever I’m in one of my moods, I feel just like them. If I were a Siberian Husky, I’d be howling too.

I don’t know. You ever had those moments when you were just generally depressed? I don’t mean depressed as in the typical depression you see on TV and read about. I mean the kind when...

What would have happened had Worf gotten rid of his kid? <a what-if>

Posted August 15th, 2011 at 06:07 AM by HistoryFreak1912

After watching a few episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I'm getting the feeling that Alexander, Worf's son, tends to get on the old guy's nerves.

So, let's pretend that Worf wasn't the nice guy we know him as. He takes his kid into an escape pod and launches the thing into space or takes him onto a planet and...leaves him there.

What would have happened? Would Picard have approved? Discuss!!

Which war would be perfect for this story?

Posted August 3rd, 2011 at 02:40 PM by HistoryFreak1912

Basically, this gem appeared in my head after I watched As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me, a movie about a German POW making his way from Russia all the way to Germany after WWII ended.

Now, I bet you can already guess what the plot entails:

#1- A war.
#2- A soldier lost in Europe and must make it back to civilization.
#3- A tale of a man surviving all odds.

I also had in mind to have this guy meet a child from an enemy nation. The child's...
