This is apparently a picture of the actor playing Ivar The Boneless in "Vikings".

The most fascinating thing is that the legendary Ivar is depicted as disabled, with "no bones at all." Yet he was very skilled with a bow and arrow and wise enough to serve as an adviser to his brothers;

What could the nickname Boneless mean? Theories include that he was asexual or impotent, "called that because he had no lust nor love in him". Given that...

Engrossed in a new book, I've been studying more about the early Southern Dynasties. Although I'm familiar with the Liang from a literary perspective, outside of David Graff's work my grounding in the Song and Qi dynasties isn't particularly solid.
