Could hitler have won the war as late as the summer of 1944

Posted May 4th, 2012 at 12:45 PM by matthew.moreno

HAD THE ALLIES FAILED IN THEIR ATTEMPT TO INVADE FRANCE ON D-DAY. WOULD HITLER HAVE HAD TIME AND RESOURCES TO BRING A STALEMATE ON THE EASTERN FRONT?
MY CONTENTION IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE. THE RUSSIANS, DESPITE THE MASSIVE HELP FROM THE WESTERN POWERS IN MATERIAL, WERE EXHAUSTED. THE GERMANS WERE DEVELOPING NEW WEAPONS AND HAD BEGUN TO INCREASE THEIR MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIES IN THE OCCUPIED COUNTRIES, FRENCH FACTORIES, FOR INSTANCE WERE BECOMING MORE EFFICIENT AND PRODUCTIVE BY 1944. THE ABSENCE OF A SECOND FRONT WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE THIRD REICH AMPLE TIME TO DEVELOP JET FIGHTERS, V1 AND V2 ROCKETS, AND EVEN POTENTIALLY GREATER DESTRUCTIVE TANKS SUCH AS THE TIGER II.
