There has been talk recently about the United States Navy(USN) pivoting towards Asia. I will try to explain why this pivot is minor by relying on pure tonnage figures which however cannot represent technological disparity. Here are the figure for the USN by ship and tonnage. Note that I have excluded resupply ships and other vessels and focused primarily on combatant vessels.
