The purpose of this chronology is to list some of the most important events which had great influence on the course of European history.
My initial plan was to start with the first century after Christ and finish with the twentieth, but soon realized that the scope of that task was enormous.
From this reason, I came to the idea of doing separate entries for periods spanning over several centuries, with respect to traditionally accepted periodization of history.

Broken mirror

Very long ago I saw a suggestive scene on a broken mirror. I don't remember the movie, I remember it was on WW2, it was black and white and there were some very strong scenes. Maybe it was a movie made in SU. The few sequences I remember are the kind some Sovietic directors were masters in creating.

Trying to get a look at reality, to make an image of it, to see and understand is always only partial achieved, like looking into a mirror: it might be accurate, but remains a part,...

How much relevance does 'A Song of Ice and Fire' have to the medieval world?

Posted August 1st, 2015 at 06:41 AM by gemg

Hi guys, I'm doing a pretty big project at my college over the next year about how the world in ASOIAF (Game of Thrones) links to medieval Europe/Earth.

I'm a massive fan of the stories and have read all the books, but I need some help with the historical side of the project.

If any of you are fans of the book/show and have a fairly good knowledge of this historical era then some ideas would be appreciated!!

Does it link with culture? military? arts?...

I'm posting this paper here because it is one of the few English language works on the subject. This is for educational purposes only. No copyright infringement is intended.

The paper comes from the following book:

Davidson, Hilda Roderick...

The Causes of the Industrial Revolution

Posted July 9th, 2012 at 05:34 AM by jttwong

I was on reading something on this forum a few minutes ago (when I started writing at least, 2 weeks + now. was really busy XD) and made an observation. Despite the significance of the Industrial Revolution to the contemporary world, people are not truly familiar with the subject. Yet, people donít realize that the problems faced by the Industrial Revolution are still being face in developing nations. Forgetting the lessons of the past is a dangerous event. Hence, here is a brief introduction...
