It took me a brief search through my source to bring this information and links, to Iraqis inside and outside, most of this is common knowledge to them, I had more source in Arabic text but I can not assume one knows or knows not how to read them, note that this is just a sample and that a lot of the links listed under one country have information about one or more of the others....

Iran-Iraq war

Living in Iraq throughout the war, I remember few stuff about the events leading to war, I went on to verify and collect them into the following :

1-The Iraq-Iran conflict goes back all the way to the mid 1930's (check this), preceded by the continuous Ottoman-Persian squabble over Shat al arab waterway (check the Second Treaty of Erzurum).
2-The Shah of Iran was supporting the Kurdish rebellions in the Iraqi North keeping Iraq busy and weak, he used that support as a blackmailing...
