Why should ordinary people back right wing institutions? Part one: money

Little Englander is also, colloquially speaking, an epithet applied in criticisms of English people who are regarded as xenophobic and/or overly nationalistic and are often accused of being "ignorant" and "boorish". It is applied to opponents of globalism; for instance those who are against membership of the European Union. Yacht for the Queen? Is she worth it?

Posted January 20th, 2012 at 03:55 PM by jungleplanewreck

I've just written a blog entitle 'Yacht for the Queen? Is she worth it?'. While this blog was written is response to the fact the Queen is being given a £60 million yacht for her jubilee, the entry deals with contemporary issues caused by the historical past. I hope it's of interest to some of you.

As with my other blogs, the formatting doesn't allow for a simple copy and paste so instead I'll have to link to the site. All discussion afterwards can take place either there or here!...

Class and Why it's important.

Posted January 20th, 2012 at 03:50 PM by jungleplanewreck

Hello, I've recently written two blogs called 'Class' and 'Why it's important'. Annoyingly the formatting used at the site in which they written is HTML, and thus doesn't copy and past easily to this forum which uses BBCode. I'm therefore going to provide you with a link to both the blogs and hope you take a minute to read.

Comments and discussion on the blog can either be posted here, or on the site. I'm not fussed. I hope you enjoy them.

Class

Why does it matter?...

Dating the Yijin Jing Manual

By Jim R. McClanahan

In my first paper on the Daoist origins of the Yijin Jing (易筋經, Tendon-Changing Classic) qigong manual, I mentioned how the earliest known extent version possible derives from the 17th century. The manual carries a comment which reads: “Stored at the Narrating-Antiquities Library of Qian Zunwang.” [1]...
