I watched the entire video. A decent job for a propaganda piece. The punch-line:

Quote:
The truth of the matter is, is that the great unknown guilty consciousness in our own society is we should have made peace in 1941.
I think it's a very small minority of the British that would subscribe to that statement made by the self-professed promoter of "ultra-conservative and neo-fascist ideas" Jonathan Bowden.

It's a very small minority that would ever take in wide ranging facts, process them, and come up with any conclusion that they have not previously had inculcated into them, though. I don't really give a damn about whoever this Bowden might be, but if the entire video was made solely to encourage doubts about our entering the War, then I don't really think it was worth the trouble. Better to use similar presentation to at least promote a future-oriented programme than historical revisionism. I don't really think the whole mythos surrounding WWII is quite as pertinent to our present day political reality as the author seems to.

i don't typically care what racists say.

but then:

- UK global and economic occurred when Churchill was literally in nappies. The USA at that time at lest was being overshadowed by the USA in economic terms.

- post-wwii, the UK inevitably declined. most people realised that immigration was required. those people on Sword/Gold beaches, well ok they were brave, but then UK decline even then was inevitable.

- If he detests immigration, then he needs to note the positive aspects of it, which i presume he uses a lot (restaurants, music, medicine, etc.)

i think many of these racists live in a different era, and i think even non-racist Brexit people do. most of the world has moved on from WWII, and even the Americans don't have it in their consciousness as much as some British do.

My impression is that the video was made by somebody with a rabid pro-Brexit agenda who also harps on other jingoistic themes. It's an extended mope about the "good old days" when Britain was a lily white Christian nation, and how that once mighty kingdom has fallen prey to hoards of nasty swarthy types.

The quote comes from a speech Bowden made about Savitri Devi. He went on to say:
"We should have allowed it. We should have turned towards ourselves and towards our empire, which is essentially have taken the deal that in a roundabout sort of way he [Hitler] was basically offering us: which is that he dominated Europe and we kept the Empire.

"After the war a few figures: A. J. P. Taylor—yes and no; David Irving—yes; Maurice Cowling—yes; Professor Charmley—yes, a few people, most of them historians, not all, have said these things, but no politician will say them. No politician will say them. And yet everything about this society has been semi-blitzed and destroyed as a result of the choices that were made then, and the morality that’s been erected upon the nature of the choices that were both made and not made then."
The last sentence above is echoed in the theme of the video.

There's certainly social decay nowadays, but I don't think it's necessarily a result of ww2 policy or immigration, the rot set in in the sixties due to an openly capitalist post-war society which wanted to forget the past and look to a freer future.

I imagine one could make similar observations after the ECW and puritan experiment when the locals were suddenly free from conservative social restraints and would do all sorts of ungodly acts in the local parks.

For a glimpse of life after the "Puritan experiment" this of course is the old stand by.
